@emileemoran: World Down Syndrome Day. 💙💛 This is a day I never knew about until I had stone and definitely a day I never thought I would celebrate in the way that I do now. We found out about Stones diagnosis 10 days after he was born while still being in the nicu. To say we were shocked is an understatement. I don’t think I can ever explain the emotions I had when the doctors told us the news. I was heart broken and confused how this was missed during my pregnancy but- relieved there was no other medical issues. I didn’t know how to raise a baby let alone a baby with Down syndrome. (So I thought) I was grieving the life I had planned for us, his future, and everything in between. We were given such a blessing we didn’t know we needed. Fast forward six months later I’m now raising a perfectly healthy baby that just so happens to rock an extra chromosome.✨ Stone has taught me some things may take a little more time and little extra work but it will get there. He’s taught me how to be more patient. I’ve learned to live in the moment and take one day at a time. I feel so lucky that I was chosen to be his mama. I will celebrate him today and all those babies and adults out there just like our baby. Anyone would be lucky to know Stone and I’m so proud to be his mommy. #fyp #downsyndrome #theluckyfew #fypシ #extrachromosome
