Does size really matter?👇 Welcome back to my Top 25 Bay Area Waterfalls series! Today, I’m sharing a guide to a waterfall tied for 7th best in the Bay Area and located in Mt. Tamalpais. While “Little” Carson Falls might sound small, it packs a big multi-tiered punch worthy of your next adventure: Waterfall Scorecard: ⭐ Overall Score: 77 * Accessibility: 14 * Scenic Beauty: 13 * Uniqueness: 16 * Size/Height: 19 * Trail Quality: 15 Your Trail Guide: Estimated to be ~150 ft in total waterfall height, the drop and pool style waterfall has multiple tiers of water that pools into another one. On your way in, be sure to check out the views of Alpine lake and once you’re there, be sure to hike all the way down to the bottom of the waterfall. 🥾 Trail: Pine Mountain Fire Road to Oat Hill fire road to Carson Falls Trail. 🅿️ Fee: Free at Azalea Hill parking lot - it’s small so get there early on weekends.   📅 Best times to visit: Right after rains to see the waterfall fully charged 📏 Difficulty: Slightly more than Easy. My ‘little guy’ conquered this one without having to be carried (moderate use of candy motivators required). The elevation makes it closer to moderate 🏔️ Elevation: Approximately 1000 ft; definitely easier than Cataract Falls as a calibration 👧 👦 friendly: Super kid friendly! The waterfall is an awesome picnic/destination spot. ♿️: Not ADA accessible 🚽 facilities: None 🦮 Friendly: : Dogs on leash 🕶️ Shade: Only shaded once you get to Carson falls trail, so mostly exposed. 🛂 Tips: Worth going past the main waterfall view point down to the bottom. However, it’s not worth trekking down the super steep slope to get down to the creek the view isn’t any better.
