Not enough teachers are qualified to teach ASL. The need for teachers of the Deaf/HOH is very high. The need for ASL teachers is incredible.

They use ASL in Costa Rica. I had a conversation with someone who didn’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish, but we both could use a little ASL!

I wish my school had taught it. I want to learn. I teach ELA and I’ve had deaf or HOH students and I hate not being able to effectively communicate.

I had to fight my college for it to be allowed as a second language credit. They argued because I’m HOH I doesn’t count, but @ the time I didn’t sign

Both my kids took asl as their foreign language. It should be taught in schools. They use it to talk about me b/c I only know a few words. 😁

Thankfully I found a private college that had an ASL program. I have a degree in ASL/Deaf Studies. Should be taught more often. Love it.
