Also, take out long-term care insurance in your 40s that will cover caregivers to stay home or it will pay for Assisted Living.

Practice makes perfect :
My grandmother had everything in trusts ten years prior but it doesn’t work for assisted living. Only nursing homes which no one wants to live in

this is true but a horrible option. medicaid beds are not always available at the nice nursing homes. Most likely a less then stellar facility.

Bad advice. Put assets in an irrevocable trust. Putting assets in someone else’s name screws up their taxes and if they are sued both are broke

Wrong. Don’t move it to someone else. Move it into a trust.

My dad tried to get his mother to do this but it was too late - Alzheimer's stopped that. She lost her entire life savings to the homes.

Medicare paid nursing homes are hell on earth. If you possibly can buy some kind of long term care ins with home assistance and fight to stay there.

Wouldn't a trust be better so the beneficiaries can avoid capital gains? Also, a long term care policy is a must!
