I have a 7 ft one that I’ve used in 3 states over 8 years. And I always hang the 1ft mark at exactly 1 ft from the ground when I hang it.

My family just used a tape measure. Easier to travel with and has more length. Just used sharpie on the white!

My grandparents did this with me growing up and when they wanted to repaint my grandpa went and took paper and made all the same markings and saved it
