First of all, it IS bamboo. NOT sugarcane. But he's not eating the bamboo. He's eating the rice cake in it. It's actually an Asian traditional food. In Myanmar, we call it "Kount Nyin Kyi Taout". It's tasty and smells like bamboo. You can eat it with sugar or other sweet ingredients.
