@tripimprover: Ulysses and the Sirens (1891) was painted by the British artist John William Waterhouse (1849-1917). It shows the mythological episode of the Greek hero Odysseus (Ulysses in Latin) and his crew being seduced by the Sirens. But Odysseus was prepared. He made sure that his crew had their ears blocked. Odysseus, though, wanted to hear the song, so he made sure he was stuck to the mast, such that he could not jump overboard when hearing their beautiful voices. Waterhouse chose a unique way to depict the Sirens, showing them with the body of a bird and the head of a beautiful woman.
