@cbcvancouver: Earlier this week, Lester Soo was going for a walk down River Road in Richmond, B.C., with his wife when a roadblock caught his eye. He turned the corner to Cornwall Drive to find a huge flock of snow geese blocking the road. "I was standing there and they kept landing and landing, it was quite the sight," said Soo. "They weren't scared at all." In an email to CBC News, David Bradley, director for Birds Canada in B.C., said the birds are called Lesser Snow Geese, and are on their migration after spending the winter in the Lower Mainland and Washington state. "The geese breed on Wrangel Island in the Russian Arctic, and make this annual migration over 4,000 kilometres each spring and fall." Wildlife conservationist Connel Bradwell said he loves birds, and seeing that many snow geese in an urban setting was "kind of wild." He said while it's a surprise to see them all across the road like that, it's not a surprise in terms of the time of year. "They can't do [the migration] all in one go," said Bradwell. "They're moving northwards in blocks, [and taking] just a bit of a rest, it's a long way to go." Video submitted by Lester Soo.
