Chance wouldn’t be earth side if it wasn’t for our once in a lifetime angel, Whitney. She had wanted to be a surrogate for a very long time and when we met, we knew it was the right time. There are so many synchronicities in our special sisterhood. Both our mamas are named Debra. Chance’s birthday is on the same day as her son, DJ… 12/10. Our embryo transfer was on Easter, 4/10. Her favorite saying is “it’s a 10 out of 10”. Beyoncé sings “ 10 10 10, across the board” (I am a @beyonce super fan and she took Chance to the Renaissance tour in the womb), and we were in Room 10 on the L&D floor before his birth. I totally understand that surrogacy is still pretty misunderstood. I didn’t know anything about it before my breast cancer diagnosis. Hospitals are still learning how to host a surrogacy birth (VCU was wonderful across the board) and they admit this is all a little new for many of them. And a surrogacy journey is harder in many ways than carrying your child yourself. Profound emotions coupled with communication, teamwork, education, and advocacy make for a very complex journey to being a baby here. I’m proud of our “it’s takes three to make baby B” joirney. Whitney had a village helping her bring our son here safely. We had a support system of friends, fellow survivors, doctors, and an agency supporting us. And through all of the ups and downs, we found family in each other that will last through our children’s lifetimes (and our own). Now I give that a 10 out of 10❤️ #fyp #surrogacyjourney #fertilityjourney #infertility #boymom #breastcancer #survivor #foundfamily #education #advocate #adamngoodlife #sarrahstrimelbentley
