I have medium hair & have the same problem!Funny enough when I was trying to add volume I used toilet paper rolls lmao and my hair looked amazing lol

You have to brush it.. but before make sure you put an anti frizz spray like the amika one.

you need smaller rollers for tighter curls . those are more for using in a blow out but you need smaller sections
