We’ve got great inshore kayak fishing here but every now and then I get an invite to throw my Hobie in the bow of a friend’s centre console and get dropped off on some offshore spots about 20 miles out. On this particular day I got dropped off about a half mile from the pinnacle and started pedalling to the spot. I was grateful for the ride but kind of rolling my eyes wondering why they dropped me off so far from the spot. I decided to go ahead and throw a Yozuri Crystal Minnow out behind me in hopes of maybe getting a wahoo bite on my way to the main rock. That Minnow got smashed before I got halfway there. I knew I had a decent fish from the first run and was praying for a big ‘Hoo so I was pretty stunned when this guy made his first jump. Nice little surprise on the spin gear and hard bait!
