you only need 2 TBSP of soap. liquid or powder. and in a washer it's agitated not just sitting. so it dissolves

as a septic maintenance technician. I strongly recommend against using tide. it ruins the bacteria and will make your system stink.

So I use a “homemade” laundry soap. It contains Zote (which is a soap), borax & washing soda. I dissolve it completely before adding to my machine. 1

I think to properly use this as a more accurate experiment is by having it mixing for a while and using the proper water to detergent ratio

Powdered detergent can contain clay & other fillers. Clay doesn’t dissolve in any concentration. It goes into suspension but will settle out.

You probably used more than the water can absorb, 2 you’re supposed to use hot/warm water, and 3 the agitation of the clothes helps it dissolve.
