@herencia_lds Herencia, founded by chef Nicko Lachica who was born in the Philippines before moving to the UK, is a pop-up dining concept created to celebrate and share Filipino culture through food. After making its mark in Leeds with kitchen takeovers, a Michelin Guide residency and awards for Newcomer of the Year (2023) and Rising Star Chef (2024), Herencia has now expanded to Melbourne. They bring immersive dining experiences and tasting menus that honour Filipino traditions while giving them a fresh, modern edge. Here’s what we had: 🍞 Pandesal baguette, uni sabayon: traditional Filipino bread with a rich uni sauce, fantastic 🫶🏼 Locos longanisa tostada: Filipino sausage, delicious, the tostada was a touch soggy though 🧀 Quesso croquettes: cheesy as 🥩 Pork skewers: yum ❤️‍🔥 Squid ink ravioli, ginataang kalabasa, curry leaves: best pasta dish I’ve had all year, perfectly al dente and so innovative 🦐 Grilled prawns, cuttlefish chawanmushi, palabok bisque: a total flavour bomb 💓 Lamb en Croute, carrot purée, caldereta jus: flavours were good but the meat was a little tough and pastry could have been more golden 😮‍💨 Black coconut and ube entremet, calamansi gel, jasmine tea: pure heaven, best tart I’ve had Herencia haven’t announced their next pop-up yet but keep an eye on their socials because this is a dining experience you don’t want to miss. Since I haven’t had much Filipino food before I won’t give a ranking, but this was truly a fantastic meal. #melbournefood #melbourneeats #melbournerestaurant #melbournefilipino #melbournefilipinofood
