they may say that because of Lead Based Paint. Sometimes it's better to encapsulate it than disturb the LBP.

Definitely siding over the cedar! and if can, spray foam installation between the two. if removed fhe cedar your insulation would majorly drop

Go right over it. My house is 200 years old and has 3-4 layers of siding. Ups the R value and no disposal fees. Also it’s way cheaper than tearing out

Don't do that. Lol the likeliness that your house needs new/updated insulation is very high. leaving existing siding could cause issue with windows

we were going to do this last year. We had a contractor come out and said I had hail damage. insurance paid!! worth checking.

If that’s the original windows there’s tons of things you can do to insulate them better. New windows are built to be obsolete every 10 years.

Put the vinyl over the siding. Works as added isolation too! My grandparents had to do that with their old farm house.
