@iamvenac: Here’s an update on my spring garden. The cold killed most of my fall plants and then weeds grew.If you don’t get rid of weeds quickly, before you know it, there’s a gazillion of them! Sometimes life is like that…when we have too much to do and not enough time, we can feel like we are in the weeds. I cleaned out my raised beds and then moved my garden to the other side of my house. At first, moving them seemed overwhelming and then it turned into an enormous blessing. I ordered these Birdie’s Beds from @epicgardening. They are 30” high so I don’t have to bend over. I will also install a drip irrigation system. I put cardboard down as a weed barrier. Then I layered the beds with organic matter like logs, twigs and leaves. These will break down over time and add nutrients. Compost was also added and then soil. Layering the bed in this manner decreases the amount of soil needed, which decreases cost. I also added a rain barrel and will save on watering. My garden is a place of peace for me. I love playing in the dirt!
