#orderflow #trading #blowthisup #fyp #tradingeducation Order Flow is one of the most powerful tools for understanding what is actually happening inside the market. While traditional technical analysis focuses mainly on price candles, patterns, support and resistance, Order Flow goes deeper by showing how buyers and sellers are interacting at specific prices. Instead of simply asking “where is price going?”, Order Flow helps you understand “who is actually aggressive at this price, buyers or sellers?” This gives traders a different perspective on market behavior and can help identify areas where significant buying or selling pressure is taking place. At its core, Order Flow analyzes the transactions occurring in the market. Every executed trade represents an interaction between a buyer and a seller, but the important difference is whether the buyer or seller is being aggressive. Market buyers lift the ask, while market sellers hit the bid. When aggressive buying dominates, we can see positive delta, meaning more volume is being executed at the ask than at the bid. When aggressive selling dominates, negative delta appears because more volume is being executed at the bid. Delta therefore becomes an important tool for measuring short-term buying and selling pressure. One of the most commonly used Order Flow tools is the Footprint Chart. Unlike a normal candlestick, a Footprint can display the volume traded at individual prices, often separating bid volume from ask volume. This allows traders to see exactly where aggressive participants entered the market. For example, if price reaches a resistance level and the Footprint shows extremely aggressive buying but price fails to continue higher, this can indicate absorption. Buyers are aggressively buying, but a larger passive seller is absorbing that buying pressure. If price subsequently moves lower, the failed buying can become an important clue that the market may reverse. Absorption is one of the most interesting concepts in Order Flow. It occurs when aggressive market orders continue hitting a level but price struggles to move through it because passive liquidity is absorbing those orders. The same concept works on the opposite side. Heavy aggressive selling into a support area without significant downside continuation can indicate that sellers are being absorbed by passive buyers. However, absorption should not automatically be treated as a reversal signal. Context is extremely important. The location where the absorption occurs, the higher-timeframe structure, liquidity, volume and subsequent price reaction all matter. Another important concept is imbalance. An imbalance occurs when there is a significant difference between buying and selling volume at corresponding price levels. Strong buy imbalances can indicate aggressive demand, while strong sell imbalances can indicate aggressive supply. Multiple consecutive imbalances can create what traders often call stacked imbalances. These areas can become important when analyzing momentum and potential continuation. But again, an imbalance alone does not guarantee that price will continue. The trader needs to understand whether the imbalance occurs at a meaningful location or simply in the middle of random price movement. Cumulative Delta is another useful Order Flow tool. It tracks the difference between aggressive buying and aggressive selling over a period of time. One of its biggest advantages is that it can reveal divergences between price and order flow. For example, price may make a new low while cumulative delta makes a higher low. This can suggest that aggressive selling is losing strength even though price has pushed lower. Conversely, price can make a new high while cumulative delta fails to make a new high, potentially showing weakening aggressive buying. These divergences become much more meaningful when they occur around liquidity, key levels or higher-timeframe areas of interest.
