@nutritionbyshantel: In my weight loss program, I teach this phrase: calorie-aware, NOT calorie obsessed. Meaning, it's okay to know the calories/macros of a meal or specific food, but where many women get into trouble during their weight loss journey is they begin to let the calorie count OVERRIDE their body cues (spoiler alert: your body cues are more accurate than MyFitnessPal). I don't teach counting calories in my program, but I do help my clients build a gentle awareness around them. An example of this looks like... You're in the fast food line, and notice the calories to the combo you're about to order. It says 1,200 calories. We don't need to know our exact calories to know that's a BIG chunk of your daily needs for 1 meal. So how can we adjust? Splitting it in half, maybe opting for a water instead of the soda, maybe it's subbing the fries for a salad and keeping the burger as is. Because of this approach, weight loss feels less intimidating, you'll begin to create a calorie deficit without logging, while eating foods you WANT to eat, and you'll likely hit your milestones more consistently. This may be a helpful strategy for you if you are someone who doesn't like to count calories or you're just too busy for that shit 🙈 Let me know if this was helpful! ____ P.S.
