@tldrnews: Russian spy ships are suspected of preparing sabotage plans in case of a war against NATO. A joint Nordic public broadcaster investigation claims that Russian ships disguised as fishing trawlers and research vessels are actually in the North Sea to locate sabotage points in case of a war, targeting wind farms, gas pipelines and power and internet cables. The ships turn off their transponders when on their missions so as not to give away their position, turning into ‘Ghost Ships’. They have been spotted within the vicinity of wind farms in UK and Dutch waters. When an undercover reporter got close to a vessel, they encountered armed men with suspected military equipment. While the evidence of sabotage is limited, such fishing vessels have previously been accused of causing damage to undersea cables. In October last year, a cable was cut in Shetland, cutting off most of the communication to the islands, with a fishing vessel thought to be the possible cause. #russia #military #news #politics #uknews #worldnews #russianews #maritime #shipping #boats #northsea #fyp #fypシ #explore #explorepage
