Not normal. They usually take 40% or sale. You should never pay to show work. Going to events at galleries and networking is helpful. Also….

Generally you don’t pay up front- but on the back end when you sell, 30/40% is typical. Watch call for artists.

Well maybe europe is different but here the galeries, contact you, yes we do have to pay to exhibit, the comission is about 30-40%.. so yeah
