@healwithbritt: The REAL path to teaching our children learn how to effectively regulate their own emotions is through observation, validation and modeling how to emotionally regulate. Now is the time to trust our children's natural instincts, to offer space for expression and feeling. Not to silence their big feelings, but to offer a healthy and safe container for them to explore them with boundaries. This leads to a child that's more regulated & happy, can manage stress and overwhelm better, is more secure in themselves, and can assert their wants in needs in a way that's appropriate. How do you help your kiddos to regulate? Share below <3 #nervoussystemregulation #parenting #fighttflightfreeze #somaticexperiencing #childhoodtrauma #regulation

My little guy hates when I try talking to or help him through it. It only escalates. The only thing I feel I can ever do is hold space for the meltdow

I love the ideas! Any suggestions on how to incorporate into a group setting. I didn't have enough pillows so I allowed them to slam the stuffies. Sure enough later that day two of them are throwing them at friends. Not the end of the world but don't want to encourage aggressiveness towards other. I didn't beforehand talk about how we can get our strong feelings out. That we only do it when doing it as an activity at group or over in safe place. (They go if they are sad, mad, or upset). We do use the tension and roaring. Any other suggestions?

I almost teared up watching this. If I had this as a child…I wouldn’t be the mess that I am today.

Thank you. I love the ideas that don’t require much that you can do anywhere, like running in place or growling like a bear or lion. The pillow slamming is also another one that doesn’t require a lot

What if their fight response is aggression and they hurt, kick, scratch? I have to hold my 3 year old so she doesn’t hurt me?

This was so helpful! My kid is very high anxiety and now I know that his big labored breaths when I ask him to take breaths w me are spot on for his emotion. Will be trying running in place too!

My sister tell my five year old nephew not to whine and I find it upsetting. He’s doing the best he can. What can I share with her to improve?
