You can open it and remove the speaker so you can’t hear the beeping. YouTube has tons of videos showing how to do this

I work on bikes regularly. Had a bike for a few DAYS before it told me there was an AirTag. The owner disabled the speaker too - I couldn’t find it.

As a detective for auto theft, i can say from experience Apple Airtags have helped in recover numerous cars and bikes. We catch them every time.

Remove the speaker and have the AirTag create a new key every 12 hours- this prevents it from letting iPhones know it exists
