In your home, if your smoke alarm goes off, and the first thing you do is rush to silence the alarm, things will get quiet… But your home may burn down around you. Look at your anxiety as a gift. It’s your body’s way of trying to love you. To shove you out of the way of danger. When your body feels anxious, don’t run. Resist the urge to fight or hide. Instead, turn and face the alarms. Be wide-eyed. Ask yourself, what is my body sensing in my environment? What is my body trying to protect me from?
