The schwa is my biggest peeve as an SLP. Only on sounds you don’t use your voice for. So not on k but ok on g.

yes! I'm a speech pathologist, and I had to learn how not to put a schwa in when teaching speech sounds! I have a 3yo daughter now learning phonics

I'll ask kids, "Is this a 'cuhatuh' or a 'cat'?" They think it's hilarious and can remember not to add the schwa sound when sounding out!

We use small rhymes for our older kiddos for sounds like /ow/ that have alternate pronunciations. So ow brown cow or ow blow the snow
