PRE-RACE ESSENTIALS Flying out soon for a short trip (birthday race vacation 🙈), so I dropped by @nutritiondepotph to replenish some essentials! PRE-WORKOUT/CAFFEINE My favorite pre-workout at the moment! It’s perfect for endurance sports since it doesn’t spike your heart rate, and the Peak O2 ingredient really boosts your performance. PRE-RACE FUEL/CARBS These remind me of the stroopwafels with hot black coffee combo I used to love! Your pre-race carbs depend on the distance, type of race, effort, and your goal, but I usually aim for 80-100g before an all-out effort. Having these handy is super convenient since it’s easy to track the carbs in each piece. INTRA-RACE FUEL/GELS The amount of gels you need during a race depends on the distance, target finish time, and effort. Personally, I feel good fueling 10 minutes before the gun start and every 30 minutes during the race. Gels are convenient to take at race pace and digest quickly, giving you that extra push from the carbs while racing! ELECTROLYTES These are handy because you can’t predict race day conditions or what will be available at aid stations. When you sweat, you lose water and electrolytes, which are essential for muscle contraction. Having some on hand is great in case you experience cramps. PROTEIN You always need protein, whether you’re racing or not! Racing or any intense activity triggers muscle protein breakdown, so you need to replenish it with protein from whole foods or supplements. Since we’re traveling, it’s nice to have something convenient just in case our immediate post-race meal doesn’t have enough protein. Just a disclaimer, every athlete has different needs! These are the supplements I’ve tried and that have worked for me, but I’m not saying you absolutely need them to ace your races. This is still mostly dependent on your training and nutrition. These are just the icing on the cake, so do your own research! :) Always grateful for @nutritiondepotph for being the most reliable and trusted one-stop shop for everything I need to support my fitness goals! #fyp #tiktokfitph #hybridtraining #spartanraceph @nutritiondepotph
