I personally prefer the aftermarket ones I've never had any problems. the ones with the metal insert send us strip the transmission and/or the motor and I think that's whirlpool's way of planning the demise of that machine so I say go for the aftermarket part

I changed mine and it was broken. Now it doesn’t make the sound anymore but it still isn’t draining or spinning. It did however go thru the wash cycle
