@themodernnonna: These are my Mom’s baked meatballs with potatoes. This dish is a one dish meal and inspired by the traditional Turkish dish called Izmir köfte. Izmir köfte is one of my favorite meals because meatballs, potatoes, peppers, and sauce get baked in the oven making it for the easiest weekday meal. You can prep the meatballs the night before and assemble the following day. This meal is a no brainer and on repeat in my family. Our recipe is not traditional by any means as my mom uses her Bulgarian recipe for meatballs and we use our Italian Sugo for the tomato sauce, but feel free to make it anyway you like with ingredients you have on hand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Meatballs: 650 grams grams ground beef (or any of choice) any ground meat will work 1 egg 1 medium yellow onion, grated 1 medium grated potato (peeled and water was squeezed out) 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon oregano 1 teaspoon paprika ½ teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon black pepper drizzle of olive oil ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Additional Ingredients: 1 cup marinara sauce (we use our homemade sugo) see notes below 4 medium yellow potatoes (peeled and cut into circles) sprinkle of salt to taste for the potato slices 5 mini bell peppers drizzle of oil on top before baking ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨You can find the full printable recipe with all tips and directions on my website which is linked in my bio. You can also search for the recipe in the search bar of my website by typing BAKED MEATBALLS and it will pop right up!
