Well, to start, a taco isn’t a sandwich because the whole argument falls apart the second you look at how they’re made. Sandwiches are built with sliced bread. Tacos are made with tortillas. Those are two completely different foods. Saying “they both have stuff in the middle” is way too broad. By that logic, burritos, gyros, wraps, quesadillas, hot dogs, and even Pop-Tarts would all be sandwiches. Nobody actually believes that.
And let’s be real—if you walked into a taco place and asked for a “beef sandwich,” nobody’s handing you a taco. The fact that everyone knows the difference proves they’re different categories of food. A taco has always been a taco, just like pizza isn’t a pie in everyday conversation and cereal isn’t soup just because it’s in a bowl with liquid.
Trying to call a taco a sandwich is just forcing a technical definition that nobody actually uses in real life.
