Mixing the baking soda and vinegar just cancels each other out. The bubbles only means that they’re interacting with each other, not the surface they were placed on.

You can skip the baking soda part and just use vinegar. Once you mix the two and the Bubbles die it’s just salt water

You should use a high heat oil. Olive oil has the low burn rate. Avocado oil or grape seed oil are better choices.

all you did was set that rust in there. you should have used a drill with a wire brush attachment and got the rust off. then re season

Pro tip: use either baking soda OR vinegar. Using both neutralizes them and you just have salt water

If it gets that bad again, scrape it all off and then take a plug in palm sander with 100-150 grit sandpaper, get it down to shiny metal again in 1/2
