Mixing the baking soda and vinegar just cancels each other out. The bubbles only means that they’re interacting with each other, not the surface they were placed on.

You should use a high heat oil. Olive oil has the low burn rate. Avocado oil or grape seed oil are better choices.

If it gets that bad again, scrape it all off and then take a plug in palm sander with 100-150 grit sandpaper, get it down to shiny metal again in 1/2
