@nursehadley: “Your job is so depressing.” “I could never.” While it is true that there are sad moments, there are also a lot of really beautiful moments. Maybe there are different types of sadness as well. When I worked in the ER I was sad because so many things were out of my patients control, especially how they died. Hospice is different. You’re sad you’re losing them because you love them so much, but it’s on their own terms and it can be a beautiful thing to witness ♥️ #hospicenurse #theinbetweenbook #greenscreen

There has to be more education. We run a full code on families request. I can’t count the times we knew they weren’t making it but fam doesn’t want to

This is why I went straight into hospice and home health straight from nursing school. The hospital was too awful of a place for people to pass.

I’m trying to not be annoying about my book! But I only have 46 days left to promote preorders & they are my best chance at my book being successful♥️

As an EMT I've seen this SO many times. Nobody understands how violent CPR is (unless you've done it).

I love this. My mom passed away on hospice. No pain and so peaceful.

because of THIS- I urge all my patients and their family to consider what full code REALLY means. I'm brutally honest for this reason

Except even on hospice family can be too scared to give pain meds because they think it will kill the patient.

This is why I kept my mom home with me, she died in my arms last month with her nurse waiting in the door way.

There needs to be so much more education on full code vs DNR for our geriatric population. 😭

I work in an ICU and my pt had to be shocked every 30 seconds to stay alive because the fam didn’t want him to pass. It was so hard to watch

You don’t do it for you. You do it for the family. That’s what we did as EMTs we did it for the family the whole 100 yards so they got closure.

Anybody who pushes CPR on a frail patient is not quite balanced. It’s violent and traumatic
