@meggrowsplants: Last year, I harvested bushels and bushels and bushels of peppers! (If you follow me on TT, you know!) and I would always get asked what my pepper secret was. I top them! I especially find this beneficial for my habaneros, jalapeños, Serranos, chilies, etc. I leave my big peppers like bell, ancho poblano, and giant marconi alone. Topping makes for a tidier, bushier, more productive plant. A lot of people will disagree and say it doesn’t affect production, but I disagree! I did an experiment last year with jalapeños and the plants I topped gave me more peppers 🤷🏻♀️ do with that information what you will 😂 give it a try for yourself and see what you think! I recommend topping one plant and leaving one untopped and see what you prefer, play around with it! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 #organicgardening #toppingpeppers #gardentips #gardeningforbeginners #gardentok #gardeners #gardenharvest

I tried this for the first time last spring and got way more peppers AND didn’t have broken stems from the wind and height they used to reach.

So *essentially* the opposite of tomatoes? Encourage the “suckers” on peppers and nix them on the toms.

And approximately what is a good height to top them at? I have a few that are still babies and some that I think are big enough to top.

Now if you top a tomato plant I heard it gets taller and produces more? Any thoughts please? 😁

You top only 1 time? If you get other branches, do you cut it off too?

You can top any plant, just don’t top it as extreme as that lol just pinch off the new growth at top, But whatever works for you works I guess lol
