@tayajayyy: Fun fact: Yukata literally means “bathing cloth?” 👘Now it makes sense as to why people wore these beautiful pieces around the Kinosaki Onsen town as they headed to the numerous hot springs and public bath houses. When I stayed at a traditional ryukan I was able to pick among an assortment of lovely yukatas to wear and the owner was so helpful with teaching me how to put it on. Another fact: when wrapping the yukata you must do so in the proper direction of tucking the right side in first and wrapping the left side over.
