Next time you have the urge to reach for the pantry and pull out something sugary for a quick hit, you could just make yourself a hibiscus tea and feed your body’s needs instead. Often compared to the flavor of cranberry juice (hibiscus is more sweet and floral), drinking hibiscus tea brings a wealth of health benefits! Loaded with nutrients, stuffed with antioxidants, and here to help you deal with everything from hypertension to reducing heart disease risks, weight loss, and complete immune system health, welcoming the floral grace of hibiscus tea into your daily routine is sure to boost your life in all the right ways. Here’s my Flower Power recipe: Ingredients: 2 cups dried hibiscus 2 cinnamon sticks 1 whole thumb peel-on fresh ginger, washed and grated/ or juiced (if juiced, reserve till the end don’t boil!) 10 whole cloves 1 tsp allspice *Optional: a few tbs of Raw local honey to taste & a few orange slices Directions: In a pot or Dutch oven, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add hibiscus, grated ginger (only if you cannot juice your ginger—if you can juice add after tea cools), cinnamon sticks, orange slices, cloves, and allspice, and boil until the hibiscus begins to plump and swell, about 8 minutes. 2. Remove from heat and let stand until cooled, you can strain now or continue to steep in an airtight vessel in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours. 3. Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher, pressing on solids to express as much liquid as possible. If needed, strain again until it is clear of any ginger remnants. Discard solids. 4. Add your juiced ginger (if you didn’t boil, and your raw honey 5. Serve over ice and enjoy! You can store in the fridge up to 5 days #hibiscus #tea #healthy #weightloss #remedy #longhair #naturalhair #refreshing #DIY #tipsandtricks #tips #floral #flower #antioxidants
