@claudiastarkmusic: Real Talk: I haven’t been enjoying playing music for a while. The layers of pressure I put alongside it all: “This take isn’t good enough” “I look weird in that part” “That gig should’ve gone better” “Nobody’s listening to the new track” “Why does that chord have string buzz” “Who actually cares if I upload this?” “Is this good or do I just think it it is?” … have temporarily and completely overpowered my love for it. I’ve been playing publicly for 10 years with these thoughts getting louder and louder and they’ve finally won out over something that I’ve loved doing ever since I can remember. I haven’t even enjoyed playing songs alone in my flat and that showed me that something needed to change. I’ve taken a fair few months away from working-on, writing, playing and uploading any kind of music… but my page is Claudia Stark MUSIC and I think it’s about time I try to fall back in love with it again. The first of my teeny-tiny baby steps is this imperfect cover of a beautiful track by Dodie. It’s the perfect solidarity song for times when you’re feeling far less than your best self and I’ve connected with it for the longest time. This is the start of my “Songs I wish I’d written” series.
