@lilurbanfarm: Want to learn how to start your own seeds for the garden? Here’s how to successfully start with a soil-less seed-starting mix. A good soil-less seed starting mix gives your seeds the best chance to grow into healthy plants. It's a better choice than standard potting soil because it's finer and lighter, making it easier for tiny seedling roots to grow. And seeds actually do not need additional nutrients during this time (so no feetilizer). The structure of the seed contains everything the plant needs until it sets its first two true seeds. Once the baby plants are a few inches tall, you can begin light fertilization to feed their growth, like fish emulsion or worm castings. And because seed starting mix is sterile, there is no harmful bacteria or disease spores that could harm the baby plants. And no weed seeds competing for space and nutrients. I’ve been starting my seeds this way for years and have found nothing but success. I hope you find this process helpful. #garden #gardens #gardening #seeds #seedstarting #seedstartingtips #backyardgardening #gardening101 #gardeningtips #gardeningtiktok #grow #growfood #jiffy
