Chili, clove, cucumber, laurel, black pepper, and carrot create a perfectly warm flavor that doesn’t completely overpower the fish. I did find this slightly spicier and less fishy than the regular 3/5 size spiced sardines. The flavor is not too fishy and perfectly seasoned. Texture 🔟 Texture has to be the main difference between these and the regular size version. The smaller sardines are more delicate. These are a tad bit softer, less fatty, and less meaty. They still hold together beautifully until they melt into a delicious tender bite in your mouth. I prefer these to the regular size for pairing with a cracker, but I imagine the larger ones would be more satisfying as a meal served atop rice or toast. Price 🔟 At €6 I find the price very fair for the quality of the product. Every tin is packed and wrapped by hand. The fish are presented without any visual flaws. The taste and texture of this brand are by far my favorite at this price point. Where to Buy 🛒 The bad news is these smaller Pinhais sardines are not available in the US to my knowledge. The 3-5 size spiced sardines are available as both Pinhais and Nuri, they’re identical. I recommend a local speciality grocer and also link online shops.
