Sweet and deep fried, it is made primarily of flour, yeast, and brown sugar. Although traditional karintō is coated with brown sugar, recently other variations appear in the market, such as white sugar, sesame seeds, miso, or peanuts. Ingredients: -100g flour -10g brown sugar -2g baking powder -40ml water -10ml oil sugar glaze -100g brown sugar -20ml water Instructions: Mix 100g flour, 10g brown sugar and 2g baking powder. Add 40ml water, 10ml oil and mix. When the powderiness is gone, knead the dough by hand. Knead until the dough holds all together. Roll out the dough, cut into strips and twiste. Deep fry at 340°F / 170°C until golden brown and no bubbles are coming out. Add 100g brown sugar and 20ml water in to a pot. Boil off the excess water until there are no big bubbles and it looks sticky. Turn off the heat and add the fried dough. After this put them on parchment paper to cool down. Put the Karinto apart so that they don't stick together. When the sugar glaze turns solid its done. Tip: Let the frying oil cool down, pour it back into the bottle through a sieve and funnel.
