@piercec_fit: Day 5/30: Pull-Ups To get the most out of your pull-ups, it’s important to engage your back muscles and use a controlled motion to pull yourself up. This will help you build strength more effectively and reduce your risk of injury. Mistake #1 is Grip Width: Gripping the bar too wide shortens the range of movement, which can lead you to do more reps, but compromises growth due to the limited range of motion. This can also put your shoulders in a more compromised position. Now, too narrow of a grip will shift the emphasis away from the back and more on your forearms and biceps, which leads to fatigue faster To fix this, use a grip that is slightly outside of shoulder width to ensure a stronger and safer pull up and will target the muscles on the back more effectively Mistake #2 is Disengaged Core: the core is actually the highest activated muscle in the pull-up. Yet when most people perform a pull-up they forget this and tend to arch their lower back, feet dangle loose, and ribs flare out. All of this creates instability in the movement. To fix this, before you even go into your pull-ups, start with your legs straight and then crunch into a C position to engage your core and maintain this as you pull up Mistake #3 is Losing Form At Top: Towards the end of the pull-up you will tend to fatigue and let the shoulders shrug up and roll forward. Disengaging your lats To fix this, focus on setting your shoulders first by pulling them down and back. This will ensure the entire movement is putting emphasis on your back Then as you’re pulling, think about leading with your chest and pulling your upper chest to the bar If you’re new to pull-ups, don’t worry! There are a few ways you can make the exercise easier until you’re ready to progress to the full version. One option is to use a resistance band to help support your weight. Another option is to perform assisted pull-ups using a machine or a partner to help you. #pullups #upperbodyworkout #strengthtraining #fitnessmotivation #backday #workouttips #30in30 #30in30challenge #30exercisesin30days #howto
