Edit: guys, thank you so much for the pushback on this video. So often I feel like I’ve thought through everything and then you guys hop in with such great points. I’d like to amend my conclusion on this one. I don’t think either side is “in the right” here. I think that Trump will accomplish his goal of getting fairer trade agreements and that needed to happen, but he did not have to throw the world economy into chaos and alienate our allies to do it. I think that targeted tariffs are a good idea, especially against China, but that they need to be an act of congress to actually work. As always, I’m committed to correcting where I’m wrong, and so grateful to those of you who respectfully (or even disrespectfully) push back in the comments. Which side is right about Trump’s tariffs?  What the Left is getting right 1	Tariffs raise inflation 2	Blanket tariffs alienate allies 3	Tariffs could cause a recession What the Left is getting wrong 1	Ignoring national security concerns 2	Pretending tariffs never work 3	Trump has no strategy What the Right is getting right 1	Unfair practices need addressing 2	Securing supply chains & national security 3	We need manufacturing at home What the Right is getting wrong 1	Tariffs make others pay 2	Understanding economic fallout 3	Straining key alliances Which side is more right?  Both sides have great points the other side is ignoring. But in this case, the right is probably more right because Trump is using these tariffs as a negotiating tool, not necessarily to bring manufacturing jobs home. However, I believe we do need to bring manufacturing home, and Trump’s tariffs are bad for this goal because:  	1	These tariffs are done by executive order, so they could change at any moment. Why would anyone bring manufacturing home when the tariffs could disappear overnight?  	2	Blanket tariffs are a bad idea. They need to be specific, preferably on China.  	3	We need an at-home investment strategy combined with tariffs to bring home manufacturing.
