@coraberrycosplay: Replying to @kay_san_cosplay This generally comes down to the standard the convention has set for the competition and today it can be hard to put yourself up against seasoned competitors. There are different categories in the US (Journeyman, master etc.,) and in Australia we have a variety of different competitions with different levels of craftsmanship expected. It takes a while to learn the standards of different events and see what cosplay competitions you would qualify for awards in. Before I won my first award, I entered about 10 competitions prior and lost every single time. I make 80 - 100% of all my cosplays but still don't always place.
