We were told by our usual hospital to go to our local hospital (to save 15mins) because Jessica needed antibiotics. Suspected sepsis - this time Neutropenic sepsis which is a reaction to an infection, which can happen in patients with neutropenia (a low level of neutrophils in the blood). We had open access to the ward so went straight in .. we thought great.. nope NOT GREAT!!. The temp doctors were so overwhelmed it took them 4 hours to give Jessica the antibiotics (even though they had been sent instructions from Jessica’s regular hospital). The bloods they took were inconclusive. They only locked her line with saline (we use heparin as Jess has a tendency to get a stiff line). Jessica was vommiting and had blood streaks in it. Jessicas Platelets dropped to 25 They couldn’t give her a platelet transfusion due to the high temperature. Paracetamol took 30hours to help reduce the temp. They said her Potassium had increased from 5.1 to 7.3 - Manchester had said anything over 6 she need to be sent to them for dialysis. Policy said she couldn’t travel with low platelets without a catheter, the ambulance wasn’t happy using her line 🤷🏻‍♀️. The last time someone placed a catheter in her she cried that much she burst a varaceal in her GI and she lost 1/3 of her blood (side effect of the CHF). Dad was woken up multiple times to change Jessica’s bum or to access the line. So got no sleep. Its safe to say we will not be going back to that hospital! Jessica now has to stay in hospital longer, she is paused on the transplant list again and she misses out on the weekend plans again. 🎅🏻 😭 #kidneyfailure #exhausted #antibiotics #temperature #littlejess #jessie #hospital #cancelled #nightmare #bleed #💚💚
