@plantedinthegarden: This is old school but still an economic way to build a trellis for peas, cucumbers and several other vining plants. Twine is versatile and inexpensive which makes it ideal for the garden. You can use it for trellis, tie up plants like tomatoes and many more. Jute is a good choice, but we went with 100% cotton butcher twine which is natural, stronger and is biodegradable. You can also use this in the kitchen. A roll of 200’ • 60m cost me less than $5 and it’s thick and strong. A lot stronger the Jute. #gardentok #gardening #tips #garden #gardenproject #trellis #oldschool

Do you think this is strong enough to hold up some big tomato plants? I love it.

Jute is natural and is stronger (higher tensile strength) and more sustainable.
it isn't as durable though, which can be good and bad

twine (cotton or jute) aren't strong enough for conditions here or my giant plants so I bought 4'x8' livestock panels and reuse them.

try using yute thread, because last more to water. if you use Cotton in contact with water it will degrade. believe me it's a tip. nice work

That’s a work of art! Trellis is so expensive at the moment. One that size would be £50+ great idea
