We just got the call from Cumberland an hour ago. There’s a horse in the middle of the road at night. Walking on three legs. Her front leg is broken - you can see the angle is wrong, and she’s putting zero weight on it. Every step is pain. She’s emaciated too - ribs showing, hip bones sharp, coat dull from months of going without. She shouldn’t be standing, but she is. Moving slowly, head low, trying to get off the road before a car finds her first. We’re heading there now. The trailer’s loaded, the vet’s been notified, and we’re carrying what we can for pain and stabilization on the drive. If we can get to her before she goes down, we’ll bring her straight in for X-rays, splinting, and a full exam to see what else she’s fighting. This is the part where it gets real expensive, fast. Emergency transport at night, sedation, radiographs, and a broken leg all add up quickly. We don’t know yet if it’s repairable or if the kindest choice will be something else. But she deserves a vet’s hands on her before that decision gets made. If you can help with this rescue, it goes straight to fuel, emergency vet costs, and getting her off that road tonight. Even a small amount helps close the gap. She’s still moving. We’re moving too. I’ll update you the moment we have her loaded and headed in. Link in bio
