In Vietnam, they actually ask "how many hours is it?" and when they ask for the weather, they ask "how is the sky?"

I’ve gone and researched the reason for this. Long story short, in Romance languages both weather and time came from the same root.

This is just mixed up translation. Just as in English, a word can have multiple meanings. No definition of "temps" fits the meaning of "time of day".

I don't know if this is just a family thing or more spread in Germany. But I learned to ask 'Wie spät ist es draußen?' when asking for the weather 😂

It isn't just French. Latvian "Kāds ārā ir laiks?" literally means "what time is it outside?"
