You organize all that, and then that one friend’s parents want to meddle and change everyone else’s plans. Or maybe that was just my friend, lol

Other Videos

In 4 hours’ time my online store will be restocked with some 350 pieces, including all of these held in this short video, (7:00 pm GMT — 24 November).   Throughout my teenage years when I first got into this craft, I was told numerous times by potters at fairs that I shouldn’t bother becoming a ceramicist as there was no money in it and it would take 30 years to make a name for myself. From that moment, and for the following 2-3 years, I took that heart, I never expected to make pottery and make a decent living, in fact I wasn’t interested in money as long as I was able to survive and make the things I wanted to.   Now I tell those just starting out the opposite, you can make a living, you can do well for yourself and it’s perhaps never been easier to build-up an audience for yourself that’ll support you and purchase your pots.   Social media has done incredible things for individual makers, allowing those who may have never found an audience, to discover kind and interested people across the planet and I suppose that’s the most interesting thing. Previously craft, for the most part, was a relatively local endeavour, you’d sell at nearby fairs or a few galleries around the country or to those who visited your studio, whereas now audiences are far more spread out, my largest buying demographic for instance are those in the United States, yet I send vessels to Japan, France, Denmark, Australia and even New Zealand. It’s staggering and I still find the reach these platforms over completely overwhelming.    I look forward to seeing you folks later when the shop goes live, thanks for following along and bearing with my ‘shop’ promotions this past week, we’ll get back into the usual swing of things over the coming days.    #handmade #tableware #craftsmanship #craft #ceramic #pots #potterystudio
