I started reading it last year and soft dnf’d it. I finished it this week. I didn’t hate all of it but honestly I was so over the story by the end 😂

I think the point was that he was a grouchy crotchety old man and I think all his neighbors knew he was sad and potentially even knew he was suicidal which is why they kept bugging him to do stuff.
