@nicolettaemily: Metaphorically (and based on my terrible camera work, physically) shaking over how much I hated A Man Called Ove. Am I alone here??? I’m recommending 3 books about intergenerational friendships and found community to read instead! #BookTok #overhypedbooks #negativebookreview #feelgoodbooks #amancalledove

I started reading it last year and soft dnf’d it. I finished it this week. I didn’t hate all of it but honestly I was so over the story by the end 😂

Omg, I hated Ove so much. I didn't finish. Now All the Lonely People was one of the best books I've ever read. I ♥️Hubert Bird!

Upbringing. Not an excuse at all of course. But in return, the point of his life was to help others. Not for himself but bc this generation can’t.

add The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise to the list! Came out this year and it’s an 84 y/o woman/21 y/o caretaker on the run friendship, so fun

He wasnt really meant to be a likeable sociable person. He wasnt any ‘cists or ‘phobics really, he made comments but never really did anything /2

A similar book that I think you would enjoy is “The great unexpected by Dan Mooney” 💗

I think you’re looking WAY too in depth of this book. That was the point, for people to not like him. He’s not anything phobic it is his generational

I think the point was that he was a grouchy crotchety old man and I think all his neighbors knew he was sad and potentially even knew he was suicidal which is why they kept bugging him to do stuff.

Hun. He took in a kid after his father kicked him out for being gay. You might benefit from a reread.
