BuckyDK :
I would imagine a scenario where you're capable of FTL travel, they've got the math down tight enough to not hit stars.

not hitting anything is wrong. I suspect you'd be hitting all sorts of particles that would exert a catastrophic force on impact.

It's not the stars you gotta watch out for, it's the pebbles and small rocks. Traveling at that speed hitting a small object will obliterate you.

warp speed warps space so u dont hit anything

I don’t think they’re actually moving though. They’re warping space. So they can’t “hit” anything.

How likely is it? Not likely at all. They have sensors to detect approaching anything with mass.

Energy fields. If you have shields to deflect, you'd still effect them, causing "space waves" like a ship

The Nava computer has already calculated course so you don’t go through a star or a nova

I never understood why it’s an issue. Wouldn’t it just warp the star around the ship without a problem?

When Andromeda collides with the Milky Way, scientists expect no collisions. None. The probability of even a single collision is extremely low.

if you're moving FTL would it even matter if you went thru a star ?

traveling at warp speed is effectively traveling through a self-made wormhole

Doesn't a warp field displace space around a ship making it practically impossible to "hit something"?

And you were going WAY faster then any ship in Star Trek. Even at w9 it’s amazingly slow
