"Most caregivers don't fall apart all at once. We fall apart in small moments we brush off." The day I finally cried over a spilled cup of coffee, I knew it wasn't about the coffee. For years I was "fine." Fine on four hours of sleep. Fine skipping meals. Fine carrying everyone's crisis but my own. Burnout doesn't knock. It sneaks in quietly while you're busy taking care of everybody else. 17 years in caregiving taught me that the moment you finally pause is usually the moment you've been needing for weeks. I still live where I work, so I don't always get a clean break. That's exactly why I lean on something this simple. It takes two minutes. You can do it in the hallway, in the car, or standing at the med cart. Save this. Share it with the caregiver who keeps saying "I'm good." Which letter is hardest for you? Tell me in the comments. 👇 Some storms you can't stop. But you can stop pretending you're not getting wet. What R.A.I.N. is: A simple four-step check-in for the moments when you feel overwhelmed. it's not therapy and it's not a fix. It's a pause. Recognize: "My body told me before my mouth did. Tight chest, short temper." Allow: "I stopped acting like being tired was a weakness." Investigate: "I asked myself when I last ate, slept, or sat down without someone needing me." Nurture: "Sometimes it's a glass of water and five quiet minutes in my car. That counts." Make it real: "You can do this between residents, at the med cart, or in the bathroom. Nobody has to know." #HealingForCaregivers #FollowMeAcrossTheBridge #CaregiverBurnout #CaregiverSupport #RAINMethod
