@amateurhourgardening: Last year I had a case of palisade peaches, and they were so delicious that I decided to plant the peach pits to see if I could get some free peach trees. Planted four of them last August or September in a spot where they get watered, but they were outside all winter. They still haven’t sprouted, so I wanted to see the status under the dirt. The peach pit was still in there and still intact. I whacked it with a baseball bat to see if I could get a little seed out of the pit, but then I accidentally obliterated the poor thing. The seed was definitely still alive in there, so I will leave the other three and see if I get a tree eventually. I also learned a little about fruit tree grafting and now I know that planting a peach seed won’t necessarily yield the same kind of peach I planted. Fruit trees are fascinating. More on that later. #fruittree #peach #peachtree #palisadepeaches #gardenfail #gardenexperiment #gardenhumor #gardenjokes
