@rust.f.shackleton: throughout the preparation and drying process, the body was kept at a standard 105°F. (40° C) and 20% relative humidity, to mimic the ancient #Egyptian conditions. The first man-made #mummies were probably an attempt to reproduce a natural process. The oldest Egyptian mummies appear to have been simply buried in hot, dry sand, without any embalming process. The right combination of dryness and heat can make a natural mummies that lasts thousands of years #egyptology #archeology #archaeology #ancient #ancientegypt #interesting #biology #anatomy #mummy

I want to know how they chose who got mummified. Was it a volunteer? Did multiple people volunteer? Was this a lottery system?

Huh, I honestly had no idea water was necessary for an MRI! I can’t get them anymore cuz I have metal hardware, but I always wondered how they worked

you can MRI a mummy, you just need to target an atom other than 1H. i am curious what they lock with though since they can't use deuterium
