I prefer the closer eye look but combined with an elongating wing. Maybe it's my age, but I've never really taken to the modern trend to over-lighten the inner part of the eye-lid. I combine a soft winged look with a gentle deepening of the eye with careful shading in the inner crease, blended out above the outer crease to the end of the eye brow. Does this make sense to anyone or am I completely out of touch? 😄
